New Team for the Transition Project 14-25
Lorraine has recently joined our team, to work alongside Kevin as part of the transition project. We asked her to talk a bit about her background and the new role.
“I have worked for many years with children and young people with SEND, both ‘hands on’ and as a SENCO for many years. Mostly recently, I was an Independent Supporter for Barnardos working on transferring the old system of Statements to Education Health Care Plans for children and young people up to age 25. I was providing impartial advice to ensure the child or YP’s voice was heard and the EHC Plans were fit for purpose.
I’m also a qualified therapeutic counsellor (since 2007) and worked a lot providing therapy to parents of children at the school and I still provide counselling for a charity in Chadwell Heath once a week.
My job as a Transition Worker will be supporting 14-17 year old with SEND to work on a positive transition from secondary school into adulthood.”
